Schreiben was my first application for Mac OS X. I needed a fast, clean and easy to use word processor which opens in the middle of the screen. I don‘t like the behaviour of other word processors you first have to center on the screen. Three years later Schreiben is still my favorite application and because other developers let me learn from their code, I did not use Word for years now. Schreiben is based on the Cocoa Text System – so you can open and write RichText and Word Files. You can create tables, drop pictures or even write HTML. Schreiben has got an integrated statistic (Character, Words, Lines) so you won´t miss your editors (teachers et cetera) defaults and in the latest version documents can be automatically saved. There is also an older version for Mac OS 10.3.9 available.
